What is the CMS and what does it do?
A CMS, or Content Management System, is a software platform used to create, edit and publish digital content.
It’s purpose is to centralise and simplify the management of your website content.
The storeConnect CMS is a proprietary system built specifically to assist in the creation of storeConnect websites.
It does not manage your products, or product pages
The four parts to the storeConnect® CMS
There are four primary parts to the storeConnect® CMS.
- Media
- Images, video, and sound files
- Pages
- “About us”, “Contact us”, etc
- Content Blocks
- Content placeholders
- Articles
- Blog posts, press releases, etc.

Media
Media includes all images, videos and sound files used on your storeConnect® website. This includes product images.
storeConnect® stores your media on a cloud-based platform outside of the Salesforce ecosystem. This is called a CDN, or Content Delivery Network.
Using our CDN, all of your media is made available to you as site-wide (more commonly known as, “global”) resources usable on any page created on the storeConnect® CMS or Product page.
Once uploaded, media can be added to product pages, product category pages, articles and any other page on your site.

Pages
Pages such as the homepage, “About us”, or “Contact us” allow you to add content to your site.

Content Blocks
Content Blocks are used to place content on your Pages and Articles.
There are two types of Content Blocks:
- Containers
- Templates
Containers
Content Block Containers define the layout of the page content.
Find more help on the Content Block Containers page.
Templates
Content Block Templates define the style of the content, how it will look and feel.
Content such as Text overlays and Slideshows are created using Content Block Templates.

Articles
Articles are blog posts or press releases. These are best described as pages within a category page.
The folder where Articles are created is called the Article Category.
Article Categories are used to categorise your Articles, such as by year, month or subject. An Article can belong to one or more Categories.

What is MARKDOWN and what does it do
Markdown is a special language that closely resembles writing in a word document.
It is used to write and define the format of text style content into webpages without the need for complex coding.
For example, to write the title of a page using Markdown, you would write #This is my title
Files written in Markdown language will have the .md
extension.
